Only at Harbour Town

Yesterday was the last day of public holiday, I felt bored staying at home alone as hubby went to work even holidays. Some shops were open especially the Harbour town shopping center, it was so busy as usual which I hardly found a parking space of several times I kept on looking.  Luckily, I was patient enough to keep on driving around to look for a space and not very long I finally got a park. Most of the shops were so busy especially there are massive discount on clothing, bag and shoes.  Harbour town is a long and continuous walk shopping center, if you start on the other entrance you will exit on the next one unless you’re going back but it’s just a waste of time, so better keep walking and just make the most of browsing the whole shops or on the selective shops as you like.

I feel hungry and have decided to have a bite and coffee to a shop close to the exit, but I didn't go on the queue of people are until the door, same in the toilet and even the hand dryers has a line. It was ridiculous and chaotic moment to shop during public holiday knowing most people were out to shopping as well, but still it's fun sometimes.

Anyway with all my uncomfortable feeling and thinking I was near to exit I decided to finish my shopping and I thought to get myself some takeaway food on hungry jacks on the way home rather than standing for too long in the queue which I already did but I gave up. I still enjoy my shopping I've got a new pair of shoes and some clothes. yaaay

Easter lunch with MIL

Happy Easter to everyone, hope you had a fantastic day today. I can say I had a good one, I’m happy to celebrate the resurrection of Christ with an Easter lunch at home with my MIL. Its pity hubby doesn’t have a big family compare to mine, so only 3 of us celebrates. How I’ve missed so much this kind of occasion and the family gathering we use to have on my family in our country. But still even only 3 of us, all went well we had a lovely lunch and fun conversation together. She brought lemon tart with strawberry toppings for our dessert and it was so yummy compare to the cake we have bought.  Hubby chooses the nice looking cake and said to me the ingredients seems to taste nice, but it was so rich in flavour that I can’t eat the whole slice, even MIL says the same, but she was thankful and appreciates our thoughtfulness. As an expert on baking cakes the commercial one or which hubby chose was not her type (lol) as well to me when I first tasted the cake. But it’s not about the food; it’s about our quality time and gathering today.

Anyway, time has passed by and it’s getting dark sooner, MIL says wants to go home so we take her on the car park to say bye.  She suddenly notice my car as we are walking on drive way,” asking Romina when you are going to sell your car and get a new one, there are many cheap auto insurance rates I’ve read on paper, hurry up and cars are getting cheaper as well”.  I just smile and say as soon as I’m ready… to break the conversation I just kissed her goodbye, thanking her for being with us today and soon she drive home.

Just on Time

Yesterday afternoon, I got home from work and hubby is not around, I rang him where he was as I want him to accompany me to go to a cake shop and help me chose what better cake his mum would like to have for Easter lunch as a dessert. I was like calling for emergency assistance that time for after half an hour all shops were closing and it’s long weekend public holiday, I can’t make it to buy in the morning.

Hubby was on furniture and beddings shop that time browsing for a bed mattress and finding out how much it cost. I was thinking maybe he is already lying and jumping (lol) just to test which is the better, suitable and comfortable mattress he feel like to replace the old one if ever. I don’t mind as long as I have a bed to sleep, me, not complain.

Anyway, hubby was quick enough to go back home and as soon as he arrive we went out to a cake shop. We’re lucky to still have a chance to buy a cake and just on time before the shop close.

Life span of mattress

My MIL, knowing it’s a hard rubbish day next week, always keep reminding my hubby since last week to get rid of the king bed mattress we are using in the bedroom. It has a long life already and it needs to be replaced to new mattress and look into a modern furniture shop, according to MIL.  Eventhough it’s over the life span of more than 20 years, it was still very strong, firm and feels comfortable when we sleep, she advice mattresses should only have a 10 years life as bugs and dust mite are building up like millions, she said. Is it true?  We had a couple year’s old queen sized on the spare bedroom but we are comfortable and love the wide king sized mattress.  We just don’t know about the life of mattress. Do you?

Hard Rubbish Waste Removal

Next week will be the hard rubbish waste removal day in our suburb.  Yesterday, my hubby had started to put away the rubbish we had kept on the shed like old washing machine, old computer monitor, lounge and some broken chairs. On the same day, I was out to work but when I came back home I was surprised some rubbish in our footpath were almost gone. Supposedly they should be picked up by council contractor but there are some local scavengers driving around and picking up some stuff that can be useful and benefit their household for them it’s like treasure hunting, good on them.

Most of the neighbourhood are doing the same thing, as I drive everyday  I can see different sorts of rubbish sitting on the footpath like old mattresses, prams, plant stands, pots, televisions, children toys and any kind of appliances people are trying to throw away. So, at this stage every household in the suburb were all busy cleaning up the house and emptying the shed of all the rubbish they want to get rid.

I can say, it’s a good project of the city council to have hard rubbish removal of every household each year.

Cheers to the City Council of Adelaide,so proud of them.

A time for shopping

I had very busy days this week with some long hours shift at work. I’m glad I was still able to stand firm, keep smiling when serving customers even so tired and was enjoying working with my team is the best.  Beside my days were occupied with work, it’s great to also have time for Easter shopping myself and make sure food supply is enough for a long weekend as most shop were closed.

I like to browse around the shopping mall, I notice there is a shop that is closing down and a new one is open, like the new healthy vitamins shop. I was curious, so I enter to look what other kinds of supplements I can discover, I was on weight loss and building muscle supplement shelves, they are the interesting and popular supplement these days.  There is one unique supplement brand name I found the animal cuts. It was an interesting name I thought its like when you’re bitten by any kind of animal but it’s not, hehehe my bad.

I had my fun wandering around and finish shopping. I suppose had a really long holiday if not replacing a shift on Saturday I should have five days off, but you get that, I can’t complain though it’s another penny to save and another penny to spend.lol

How do you celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus?

Its Easter week, there is chaos in the supermarket especially in the seafood company where I work yesterday.  People are panic buying what they will cook to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus on Easter Sunday and as well as to buy enough food supplies for the long weekend public holiday.  I have seen many race of people at work and multi-cultured migrants are getting ready for a family and friends gathering.  Even amuse myself seeing a customer walking with a big built muscle with matching tattoo on his arms.  I’m just thinking he really work hard and train himself going to gym or plus he had taken the best muscle building supplement to achieve that kind of body. I have a good imagination, hehe it’s just hubby sometimes likes to talk about gym and want to have big toned muscle, that’s why.

Anyway, what you guys are doing this Easter? Any plans at all? As for me, in the afternoon I'll go to church,  a little bit of reflection about how Jesus sacrifice himself and died to save our sin and we will just have easter Sunday lunch at home with my MIL some seafood, roast and veggie salad sounds yummy and maybe catch up with my friend.

Have a lovely Easter to all. Enjoy and have fun!!! It's a long weekend holiday.yaaay

Thinking of Grandpa

I don’t know why, suddenly I thought of my grandpa, he passed away many years ago.  I even imagine how he looks if I still remember his face, of course I do.  Especially I remembered him when I saw a cigar, he must be happy suppose if one day I’ll have a holiday and buy padron cigarsbrandy or whisky for him as a present. I know how he likes to drink occasionally even collecting how many years old whisky and smoke on moderate way. Even use to smoke traditional leaves as cigar, I forgot the name of it, which also smoked by older people long time ago, I don’t know if there still some people rolling it like a cigarette and smoke.

But sad, my grandpa is now in heaven. Grandpa, we your grandchildren were all grown up and some has their own families. You haven't seen your great grand children, we are now a big big happy family and always there for each other. We miss and love you so much grandpa.

Promise Ring

Do you have or does anyone give you promise ring etiquette? Or any idea what the meaning of this ring?  Well, it’s a type of ring which meant something and has strong feeling of love between two people, family, friendship and even religion that holds a deeper meaning to the person who is wearing them.

I was lucky to be given by my husband when we got engaged and during our wedding.  It’s a pity my engagement ring was lost and hasn’t been replaced yet. I'm just wishing for our love to last forever and keep the promise we've made to one another.

If you ever have a promise ring, you must be very special and was loved so much.  Let’s all keep and treasure it forever as a sign of eternal love.

If car is like Human

If the car is like human, I'm killing it softly by not doing the check up right away. It needs to be confined already in the hospital or an x-ray check up to figure out what’s really the problem. As what my hubby assume checking the car and having some mechanical knowledge it might have problem on wheel bearings, brakepad, loose connections of indicators and some other minor issues that will help the car run smoothly.  It’s running alright but if like a person it's not always feeling well, I just can’t tell one day when it will breakdown and stop running.

A Filipino friend who work as car mechanic offer a hand to help me when my car is in trouble, I will soon contact him to check up the car or if he can fix the problem and change some parts. If I bring my car to auto repair shop it cost a fortune, I hope my friend can help or at least I can lessen half or a third of the expenses if he does it himself.

I like Shoes

Have you seen this kind of shoes in the market? Don’t you know they are popular especially on manufacturing top lifestyle shoes? They usually have beautiful design and always made on a hi-cut style sneakers. I always saw the teenagers wearing them but of course it can be of any ages and uni-sex as well. Most of the men like these design of shoes, I really like them, the design and colors they have featured online, lots to choose which makes me confuse what’s the best one that suits to me.  They come in different colors as well if you want to mix and match with your clothing. What color you match reflects a person personality.

I have an eye on these two sneakers; take a look on the photos below:

The Royal Wedding Updates

I woke up early today, but was planning to go back to sleep after an hour later which I always do. I check my facebook, blog and turned on the television trying to have updates on the current events.  Its coincidence the headline was about Princess Mary’s twin baptism and the Royal Wedding, how interesting that most people are awaiting the big celebration and looking forward for Kate Middleton to be the new Princess.

Yesterday, during my lunch time at work after eating my food I had some time left, I did read a magazine that was sitting on the corner, I don’t know if it’s old or new it doesn’t matter anyway I need to ease myself on boredom that moment. Again, one of the pages I read was about the Royal Wedding, choosing the best wedding dresses Kate is going to wear.  Also the venue of wedding and the food to serve on reception, the flower girl and maid of honor was her younger sister as well as some guest like Elton John, The Beckham and Natalie Imbruglia. Oh the honeymoon was on Virgin Island in Hawaii if I remember it right.

All the best wishes to the Royal Wedding…hope they live happily forever.

Miracle of My Brother's Song

I went to church this morning, a part of homily was a short story the priest had shared about the miracle of brother's song.  He suggest to all people who attend the mass if we are interested to know the whole story just search on internet. As soon as I got home I search the story and here it is now I want to share to all of you the touching miraculous story.

A true story

Like any other mother, when Karen found out that another baby was on the way, she did what she could to help her 3 year old son, Michael, prepare for a new sibling. Day after day, night after night, Michael sang to his little sister in Mommy’s tummy:

“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,
you make me happy when skies are gray.
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you,
Please don’t take my sunshine away.”
He was building a bond of love with his little sister before he even met her.
The pregnancy went well for Karen and time of labour came. But serious complications arose during delivery and Karen found herself in a long labour. Finally, after a long struggle, Michael’s little sister was born, but she was in serious condition. The hours and then days inched by and the little girl got worse.  The pediatric specialist regretfully had to tell the parents, “there is very little hope, be prepared for the worst.”  They had fixed up a special room in their home for their baby – but now found themselves planning for a funeral!  In the meantime, Michael kept begging his parents to let him see his sister: “I want to sing to her”, he kept saying.
Week two in the Intensive Care Unit ended with a funeral looking more and more likely.  Michael kept nagging about singing to his sister, but children are not allowed in the ICU. Karen made up her mind, she would take Michael whether they liked it or not! If he did not see his sister right then, he may never see her alive. She dressed him in an oversized scrub suit and marched him into the ICU. He looked like a walking laundry basked, but the charge nurse recognized him as a child, and bellowed: “Get that kid out of her now – no children are allowed!”  The strong mother rose up in Karen, and the usual mild-mannered woman glared steel-eyed right into the charge nurse’s face, her lips a firm line.
“He’s not leaving until he sings to his sister!”

Karen took Michael to his sister’s bedside. He gazed at the tiny infant losing the battle to live. After a moment, he began to sing. In the pure hearted voice of a 3 year old, Michael sang:

“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,
you make me happy when skies are gray.”
Instantly, the baby girl seemed to respond. Her pulse rate began to calm down and become steady. “Keep on singing Michael” encouraged Karen with tears in her eyes.

“You’ll never know dear, how much I love you.
Please don’t take my sunshine away.”
As Michael sang to his sister, the baby’s ragged; strained breathing became as smooth as a kitten’s purr. “Keep on singing sweetheart!”

“The other night dear, as I lay sleeping,
I dreamed I held you in my arms…”
Michael’s little sister began to relax as rest, healing rest, seemed to sweep over her. “Keep on singing Michael”, his mother whispered. Tears now even conquered the face of the charge nurse. Karen glowed.

“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,
Please don’t take my sunshine away.”
The next day…the very next day…the little girl was well enough to go home! The medical staff called what happened a miracle. Karen called it indeed a miracle of God’s love!
Never give up on the people you love. Like Michael’s, your song of love is waiting to be heard.

The Sequel
This story led to an email being sent by a remarkable young woman who shared the sequel to this story. A copy of the correspondence is pasted below:

Hello,
I'm Marlee Simmons, and I want to thank you for posting this story, my story on your website! I never thought that My brother and I could ever be such an inspiration! God has blessed me with the gift of singing and I know that i'm called to sing! Again! I thank you, because everyone should follow their dreams and God has a special plan for all of us!
Thank you!

Dear Marlee,
Oh Wow! Thank you for writing. With your permission, I would like to post your reply, and anything more you would like to add, to our web site as a sequel. In fact, I will do one better. I will read it out in one of our Soul Food's (again, with your permission).
Your story is a miracle and a true inspiration. I would love to learn more.
Please write.

Dear Louise,
Yes, I don't mind at all if you share my story! That would be great!
As the story says, I was born with a whole in my lungs. My lungs weren't fully developed and everytime I would breath, they would stick together like wet plastic bags. ( As my mom calls it.) When my mom saw me for the first time, she smiled and laughed because I was hiccupping, but then she realized that that wasn't a good sign. They rushed me to the NICU and told my parents that I mostlikely won't make it. Well... the doctors were wrong! And God proved them wrong! WOOHOO!!! I'm so blessed to be living on this earth and I know God has a special purpose for me and for you!

I'm a Junior in High School and my brother is a Junior in College. I Sing in choir at school and at church. I love the Lord! And He has given me the gift to Act and sing. Hopefully someday I can make an impact for Him and be a role model for those younger than I. To strive for something more than Just wanting to wear "what's in" be popular have the hottest boyfriend or girlfriend. Because there is so much more to life than those things! Remember.... God is with you through the GOOD TIMES and BAD TIMES! Don't forget that! Even when you may think that you've hit rock bottom... don't give up on the one who is always there!
Thank you!
God Bless, Marlee Simmons

Be Cautious

As one of the service assistant in the supermarket sometimes there are few customers who needs assistance of finding the product they can’t find and some approach a team member of other issues like for example a spill of milk or sauce on the floor which is a common thing to happen in the shop.  It’s a good thing if one customer report, it just only shows they also care about other customers who are doing their shopping.

Usually we are very cautious and prompt if someone report of slippery, wet, broken jars or bottles along the aisle.  We quickly take an action to put a sign to avoid accident or to make customer aware and be careful when walking on the area.  Even we are busy doing something we are very alert to attend to this kind of matter. We always put the caution sign first and after that grab something to clean the area.  It’s good if its a non skid dirt so it’s easy to get rid of the dirt and can go back to the proper work  quickly.
